![]() ![]() I looked again online for battery replacements and found Aliexpress now offer replacements at a much more affordable price so I ordered one and replaced the old one (it was bulging) and connected the new one a few weeks ago. I noticed the stereo imaging was fuzzy and that is something I cannot live with. At that time, replacement batteries were expensive so I just carried on as I was.Ī few months ago i noticed I had been going off listening to music at home and did some critical listening with some of my test tracks to see if there was something missing from the music. However, I also read that some owners reckoned they'd improved the sound from the Mojo in desktop mode simply by upgrading the 5V power supply. When I disconnected the battery and went into full-time desktop mode, I did some reading and saw posts suggesting that unhooking the battery and relying on the Mojo's 5V supply would introduce noise because that part of the circuit was only designed to supply the battery, which acted to damp and eliminate the noise. I didn't miss its portability as I got into repairing Walkman and playing tapes when on the move ![]() The only other quirk/feature is that the unit would turn off after being on for a few hours if no music was being played. Some people report vibrating while the charger is attached but I only noticed this when it was first turned on and the diagnostics are being carried out, which takes a only few seconds. I've had mine for years using it primarily as a desktop DAC and that shortened the life of the original battery so I unplugged it and it continued to work fine permanently plugged into a generic wallwart 5V 2a power supply. Now there is a new Chord Mojo 2 to replace the original model I expect a lot to come on the market. ![]()
